Biking fun in South Tyrol’s south

Eppan and Kaltern are the perfect starting points for leisurely but also challenging bike tours amidst lush natural landscapes. Look forward to flowing single trails in the Montiggl forest, which can be tackled almost all year round, and more challenging tours around the 1,865m high Monte Macaion/Gantkofel. Kaltern also offers varied routes through gentle hills and to dreamy vantage points.

King’s tour

Good cycling technique and stamina are required. Includes: exhausting climbs, difficult trail passages, and fast descents of 65km and 2,000 metres of altitude.

Eppan high trail

From the town hall square in Eppan we take a long climb to the high trail, where we continue on a forest road or a more challenging single trail, accompanied by a fantastic view of the Bolzano valley basin and the Dolomites. The descent is on a forest road or on a hairpin bend section before we return to Eppan through a beautiful vineyard landscape.

To Matschatsch and the Kaltern high trail

This tour is ideal for lovers of hairpin bends. It leads us onto the Kaltern high trail, which offers a fantastic view of the Oltradige/Überetsch with its vineyards, the Montiggl forest, the three lakes, and the Dolomites.

Over the Passo delle Palade/Gampen Pass and Mendola/Mendel Pass

The tour is about 72 kilometres long and leads from Kaltern through orchards to Nals and on to Tisens. If you prefer a flat route, you can also ride to Lana. There you will cycle the scenic Passo delle Palade/Gampen Pass. Drive over the Gampenjochhöhe to Fondo, where you turn off onto a side road via Malosco to the Mendola/Mendel Pass. The descent from the Mendola/Mendel Pass is impressive with numerous hairpin bends.
